The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology (QCF)

is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a nail technician. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as a nail technician, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a nail technician including, providing manicures and pedicures, applying and maintaining nail enhancements, maintaining personal health and well-being, health and safety and client care.

You will also have the opportunity to further develop your understanding and skills with a number of specialist units which include: designing and applying nail art, enhancing nails with electric files, promoting products and displaying stock to promote sales. The structure of this qualification provides you with the flexibility to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills required to become a nail technician.

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and nail products and equipment. You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to provide a variety of nail enhancement treatments using different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

The VTCT Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Nail Services (QCF)

is a substantial vocational qualification that will confirm your competence as a nail technician. This qualification forms part of an apprenticeship framework, however is also offered outside apprenticeships by education and training providers who can offer this course in a real salon environment and provide you with the opportunity to learn nail technology skills, whilst working on real clients. It is important for you to have the opportunity to learn in a real working environment, particularly because this qualification leads to employment in such a client-centred and service orientated sector.

This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as a nail technician, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.

This qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively as a nail technician including: enhance and maintain nails using UV gel and liquid and powder.

You will also develop your understanding and skills in a number of optional specialist units which include: designing and creating nail art, wraps, promoting products and contributing to the financial effectiveness of a business. The structure of this qualification provides you with the opportunity to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required for a career as a nail technician.

Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and nail product knowledge. You will develop a range of technical skills in nail enhancements, using a variety of different products, tools and techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Make-up Artistry (QCF)

is a substantial vocational qualification that will prepare you for a career as a make-up artist. This qualification is designed for learners aged 16 years or over and will support you to gain employment as a make-up artist, as the units contained in this qualification cover all the skills and knowledge required for this role. Entry onto this qualification can be via previous attainment of a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy and/or a successful skills test and interview.

This is a vocational qualification and includes all the required elements to work effectively as a make-up artist including following: applying make-up, instruction on make-up, fashion and photographic make-up, media make-up, camouflage make-up and promoting products and services.

You will also have the opportunity to further develop your understanding and skills by a specialist units airbrush make-up.

Throughout this qualification, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety, client care and cosmetic products and equipment. You will also develop a range of technical skills enabling you to prepare the skin and apply a variety of make-up products using different techniques. You will also develop interpersonal skills, which will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

The VTCT Level 3 Certificate in Beauty Therapy Studies (Massage) (QCF)

is a technical level qualification that provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as a massage therapist either as an employee or in a self-employed capacity. This qualification is based on Habia National Occupational Standards (NOS). This qualification is recognised by the UK's largest beauty and complementary therapy trade body/professional association i.e. The Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and also the UK's second largest association representing beauty and complementary therapy employers; the British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a massage therapist.

This qualification builds on existing knowledge and understanding of beauty therapy gained at Level 2 (however there are no pre requisites). This enables learners to expand the scope of their technical skills to prepare learners for employment in beauty salons, spas and other businesses or as a self-employed massage therapist.

The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a massage therapist including health and safety, client care and communication and body massage incorporating anatomy and physiology and client consultation skills.

Learners also have the opportunity to undertake and enhance their range of practical skills such as Indian head massage and massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils and theories and principles of massage.

The VTCT Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing Studies (QCF)

is a technical level qualification that provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills to work as an employed and/or self-employed hairdresser. This qualification is based on Hairdressing National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is recognised by the UK's leading hairdressing trade bodies/professional associations (i.e. National Hairdressing Federation, The Hairdressing Council, The Freelance Hair and Beauty Federation) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as an advanced hairdresser/stylist.

Learners who complete this qualification are eligible to become a State Registered Hairdresser (SRH) with The Hairdressing Council.

This qualification has been specifically designed and builds on existing knowledge and understanding of hairdressing and develops an enhanced repertoire of technical skills to prepare learners for employment as a senior hairdresser/stylist. There are no pre requisites for this qualification.

The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a advanced hairdresser/stylist including: health and safety; client consultation; advanced cutting; styling and colouring techniques, selling products and services to clients and health and wellbeing.
